How do these CPUs compare with performance in gaming? I couldn't seem to find a decent benchmark on these things. Well if anyone had bought these or knows, how do these CPU's compare if the E2140 was overclocked w/ a P965 board and the 3600+ the Tforce 550

The E2140 is just mildly better than the X2 3600 in gaming.
When both are overclocked pretty high (both at 3.0ghz) the E2140 still is slightly better but the X2 3600 is cheaper as is the board. Plus E2140 runs quite hot.

Sora is right. the E2140 is a little bit better than the x2 3600 but I doubt you will notice a difference between them. In benchmarking the E2140 only wins by a little bit so its really up to you.

Its a matter of AMD fan boy or Intel fan boy on these CPUs.

Although - those E21x0 chips do overclock pretty well, alot of people are reporting 100% overclocks with air cooling, if you get a good clocking i965 and decent air cooling i.e. Tuniq Tower 120, then you should be able to get it to very high speeds which will kick the botty of the Brisbane X2 3600+.

o/c ing is never to be completley relied on. there is never any guarantee that u will reach any speed. but they do seem to be o/c pretty well for everyone these days.

well an overclocked e2140 vs an overclocked 3600 isn't "slightly better"...it's MUCH better.....so whether the extra $ is worth it then that's up to you.

Also you're pretty much guaranteed to get 2.8ghz at least out of the 2140 ...and some people have been getting as much as 3.4ghz out of these chips.

But even at 2.8ghz it will perform far better than the 3600+ @ 3.0ghz
