ok so I installed a new cpu, a pentium 4, 2.4GHz and now my system will crash very frequently. To check if it was the cpu I put the old one back in, a celeron 1.8. The system did not crash with the celeron. Does anyone have any ideas how to solve the problem (assuming that it is not a structual fault in the cpu). Do i need to make changes in bios, or change drivers etc. Ive checked that the mobo supports my cpu. Any advice would be hugely appricated. please help me!!!

My specs:

XP sp1
celeron 1.8 533fsb/ p4 2.5 533 ~ acting dodgy
256 + 128 pc2100
asus p4s533-mx

my p4 runs at 533MHz (FSB). MY power supply is 400W but, its a bit dodgy and i have like 4 fans running off it so im getting a new one with more power output. When it crashes or freezes, sometimes theres a message when xp has loaded up again: microsoft windows: this programme had recovered from a serious error.....
Does bios normally change the settings automatically, or do i need to change some settings?
