In Search of Software: Movie Player

I'm looking for a movie player that I can run directly from a CD and it won't put any files on the hard drive.

I need it to play specfically AVI and OGM files, but any others will be that much better.

After busting some mad google skillz, I came up with VLC media player. Anyone ever used it? Judging by the discription, it's exactly what I want. I'll have to give it a try.

I have it, but I don't use it much. Not a big fan of it. But that's just me.

Also downloading SMPlayer in a post by Warez Monster (I love his posts) to see if it's what I want.

i use VLC. works well, simple to use.
