Ever since I connected my wireless router I have been having periodic disconnects which make online gaming a pretty frustrating experiance. I never had this problem before I connected the router, so I tried disconnected the router for an experiment and it still disconnects every once in a while. I tried renewing my IP address several times but it doesn't seem to work. Just to clear things up, I'm not actually using Wireless myself, i'm just broadcasting it via my router. Anyone have any suggestions?

So you are connected using a Ethernet wire and you get disconnected? When you get disconnected you have to do the following so we know what is wrong with your connection.

First you have to open command prompt.
Type ipconfig /all (this will list your TCP/IP setting)
Ping the default gateway IP (ex. ping 192.168.1.1)

What is the result?

Also, don't leave your wireless connection enable if you don't use it.

Go to router's vendor website, get the latest firmware and install it, see whether it performs better.. Also you can connect the computer to router with network cable, see whether it performs better.

check if the cable conection are OK,
or if the cable isolation somewhere is out and the copper wires are having conntact
