Ok I currently have 2gb in DDR ram so it would be nice to have a motherboard that supports DDR1 so I dont have to buy all new ram.

I'd like a core 2 duo e6300-6600 with support mobo(with ddr1 support). The cpu I found all over for a variety of prices but the mobo im having trouble finding.

P4 or AMD Socket 939 boards run DDR memory. Sorry! The newer boards for Core 2 Duos and AM2 boards for AMD alike all run DDR2. When I get all the stuff together to upgrade the case here I also have to move up from DDR to DDR2. I guess we're in the same dilemna there.

not necessarily, i dont thik p4 boards only have ddr, coz i have a pentium 4 socket 775 and i have ddr2. please correct me if i am wrong

There are a few boards that will run both types of memory. But do they support Core 2 Duos? I've seen a few models that would run upto 4gb at least of either type. You can't mix both however. Asus has a one or two models that run both 184pin and 240pin types. Abit has one model that will run 2gb of 184pin DDR400 or 240pin DDR2 533 memory seen at Product Details

cool, but whats the point of a core 2 duo if u can't overclock it

When upgrading to a newer model cpu like a Core 2 Duo you may as well plan on moving up from an AGP card to PCI-Express and DDR2 at the same time since that's the current memory standard with the few exceptions seen. For upgfrading again later you will have to have the newer memory. With those you won't see too much in the way of performance even running stock.
