About 15% stock in average for about 65% more of the cost though. However video price/Performance is different so it all depends on your games, the rest of your system, the res you play at, and how soon you want to upgrade.

the performance increase does vary depending on the game, the game settings, and the rest of the hardware.
On average 8800GTS would be at least 30% faster than X1950XT

8800GTS is about 40-50% faster than X1950XTX in oblivion and Rainbox six vegas !!
Maybe the only game than X1950XTX and X1950XT can beat 8800GTS is FEAR because this game is optimized for ATI
However, on average 8800GTS 320MB would be about 30% faster than X1950XT and about 15%-20% faster than X1950XTX. And don't forget the 8800 series can produce better image quality

That is at 1600x1200 which I said would be a little different since it has more memory. I said it all depended on the resolution you play on and 1280x968 or 1440x900 is a little less of a margin like that.
It all depends on what monitor you will be running it on - anything lower than 1280x1024 you may as well get the 320MB GTS although anything above the 640 will help you out alot. Also - the X1950XT is slightly more Overclockable due to the fact it has software Volt Mods available, but unless you replace the stock cooler it will sound like a leaf blower! Whereas the 8800GTS is pretty much silent even when the fan is trashing it!

actually ur wrong... its for 1400 x 900 resolution or lower is 320 mb, other wise its 640mb is the one for u, i've settled with a 8800 gts 320 mb, topic closed... thx for the help.... mods close thx

1440x900 is a lower resolution than 1280x1024

I'm using a 22" with my 8800 GTS 320MB
On the vast majority of games, it runs really well at 1680 x 1050, with full AA aswell.
