What processor to get w/ 1GB Memory, 128MB DDR, 256 bit Video Card?

Say if one were to have: 1GB Memory, 200 GB HardDrive, and 128MB DDR, 256 bit Video Card; what processor would best for the one who: surfs the web, burns CD/DVD's, uses programs like Encarta etc., and plays video games?

What would be the best processor for quality and reliability?

I hear everyone raving about the Athlon 64. I hear its the best for gaming. My question is, would the Athlon 64 make any difference if it was used with a 128MB DDR, 256 bit Video Card compared to a Intel P4 @ 2.8 GHz 800MHz FSB, 1MB L2. Would there be any noticable difference between the two for gaming.

The P4 is cheaper than the Athlon 64, is it faster?

Is the Prescott 1MB L2 better or faster than the Northwood 512K L2?

These are the few questions I ask my self about the CPU's listed. Anyone hear have a straight foward answer on which would be best in my case. To be honest, I have no clue.

Go with AMD, it is the gamer's processor, plus, you'll be ready for 64-bit apps when they finally hit stores.

I'd get a AMD64 3200+......only $50 bucks more then the 3000+ and alotter faster, plus will destroy a 2.8 P4
