Im using a very old windows 98 computer right now. The repair for the hp pavilion a1030e costs about 240$. Can I make a new computer with some of these parts and some new parts for less than 400 or maybe 450? People have said before that with 350 I can make a awesome new computer but that was when my processor and motherboard was working... please help. Im computerless. I do have this windows 98 and a 2000 millenium but I doubt I could use these parts as these systems are very outdated but if theres a chance i can use them then Ill tell u the specs. Anyways please help.

well i could slap on a new Sempron CPU for like $30 with same performance of old CPU. Or more decent CPU for $120+. Or would you rather use up all your budget and use all $450?

If your motherboard is fried,then no 30$ will not be the total cost. If the fry was bad enough (or if there was a true fire) youre going to need a new mobo and processor, maybe new ram and maybe a new video card. Also, if it burned the cables to your power supply, your going to need a new one of those too...

ok the payment for the motherboard and processor and everything is $240. I can pay for this and then Ill only have about 200 bucks left. Of course i can save. But Im asking that once I fix my computer. Can I make a better computer with only 200 buckaroos. u know, new chassis and new parts with old parts and etc.

oh and if I made a new computer and didnt fix the motherboard and chassis, then how much would a decent new computer cost using or not using the rest of the unfried parts from my old computer.

Mobile CPU yes but it'll work on ur 754 board.
