my PC is about 5 years old. We had a new motherboard installed professionally 2 years ago. Since then we have had problems with the computer. Our sound card wouldn't work, the internet would die, and many others. about 5 months ago the monitor and CPU wouldn't communicate. I would turn off the computer, reboot it and everything would sound like it was working. THen the monitor would turn on and say: off mode in 5 seconds, the monitor would then shut off. We have tried connecting the monitor with other CPU's and it has worked fine. Do you have any idea on why the CPU might not be working with any monitors??

My first step would be to remove and reseat the video card in the computer. If your video is integrated try flashing your BIOS, check your mobo manual for this.

Yeah it might be a problem with the video card...otherwise no video output is also a symptom of a faulty motherboard or cpu.
