The X1950PRO is actually better until the 7900GS is overclocked to around 550/780 or something, but yes the 7900GS and X1950PRO are right across from each other in the rival section. However the X1950XT really just kicks both of their asses..

The closest cards are the X1900XTX, the X1900XT 512, and the 7900GTX.

The 7950GT 512 comes kind of close but about 15% slower.

i dont know if we should suggest to new builders putting their hdds in RAID 0. you know, if something happens...they will lose all of their data. which is unfortunate. and a pain in the a**. lol

hmmmm since u guys say i should go for the e6600... which motherboard would u guys suggest? I'm not that familiar with Intel's cpu so not that clear for me about motherboards for intel cpu either. If I get the e6600 it would be my 1st build for intel. Are the core 2 duos really better than AMD X2 cpu's ?

Look at the links posted up, earlier (6th post). The MSI P6N Platinum is a very good board, for C2Ds. Currently, the C2Ds are the best processors out.

I would possibly wait for the E6420, as it will be cheaper. It still has 4MB cache, and it should OC to a good 3.5GHz with no problems, with a decent aircooler.

Apart from that, I'd say b1gapl has a decent spec sorted there. That ram is good, and those PSUs get some good reviews.

(An OCed and vmodded 79GT can keep up with an X1950XT.)

just out of curiosity, how does the x1900xt stand up to its big brother, the x1950xt.

and yes, get the e6420, but if your dirt cheap, just get a e4300 like me :p they still overclock VERY well. but wait until the price drop july 22. then get a e6420 or the q6600 like me.

The the X1900XT and X1950XT, are pretty close with the X1950XT winning slightly. Isn't the X1950 series, just a revision of the X1900 series?
