Hey wussup guys.
I'm just confused about which cpu I should get now.
I am planning to build a new PC in about one month or so I'm consulting you
guys for some help. Should I get the Athlon 64 X2 5200+ or the Intel Core 2 Duo E6600? I'd also appreciate it if you guys can recommend what motherboard and video card is worth getting.
My budget is around the range of $1,500-1,800

Thanks

The E6600 is for sure worth getting as it is better than the X2 6000 on average.

In that price range I suggest this type of build.

CPU: E6600 (Q6600 after prices go down in July)
Mobo: MSI P6N Plat/ 680i board
Ram: 2Gb G.skill HZ's DDR2-800
Video: EVGA 8800GTX
Case: Gigabyte Aurora or NZXT Zero
PSU: Corsair 520HX/620HX

Sora is on target, for that budget. lol...Sora...it's not like you to suggest a 680i board. Also don't forget a Seagate 320gb hard drive.

In one month, you're building this. I'm guessing you know about the July 22 prices drops?

Well usually I would not but at that price range I just wanted to throw the option out there.

Yea that was a quick build but I would RAID 0 2 seagate 7200.10's

i agree with sora's build. he alwasys gets it right. i would wait till july though, for the price drop. hey sora-how much better is the x1950xt on stock compared to a 7900gs on stock? coz i have a 7900gs too. i want to sell it and get something a bit better, but not much money to spend though

Heres to outline, on what Sora suggested:
GIGABYTE 3D Aurora 570
MSI P6N SLI Platinum
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
G.SKILL 2GB HZs
EVGA 8800GTX
CORSAIR 620HX
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB
Sony NEC Optiarc DVD-RW+/- Burner
About $1,600

siddanth,
An X1950XT, kills a 7900GS. Sora would of said the same thing, btw.

A 7900GS's competition would be an X1950PRO, with the pro winning slightly on stock speeds. Just overclock the 7900GS, and it beats the pro.
