Hi,

I recently had to perform a full system recovery on my HP Pavilion PC.
I re-installed my router but ever since I have been getting the following message in the Windows XP error log every time it is reset:

The IP address lease 192.168.1.2 for the Network Card with network address 0016E318DEC0 has been denied by the DHCP server 192.168.1.1 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message).

The connection seems to be working fine and there doesn't seem to be any problems in the router manager or 'ipconfig/all'. The lease time is 24h and cannot be altered

However the speed is sometimes unsteady when testing and it drops and slows down once in a while.

Is there a problem somewhere?

I would try static addressing, turn of the DHCP and manually assigned the IP address if you have few computers, which is ideal. Before you turn off DHCP server on the router, get the information you need with ipconfig /all.
