A couple of things...

If it feels like you have to use a lot of force to connect something, then your probably doing it wrong.

I've read that it's good to connect one component at a time, make sure it's working correctly then proceed. MB, cpu, memory and keyboard all at once first.:)

edit: what are some advices that i could add when building a pc, and what aren't some good ideas
 
another common issue is when noobs use high-end cards, they forget to plug in the xtra cord for the video card... noteworthy i guess:) , i never knew what the acronym meant, just knew its screwed

good ideas:

hmm... using anti-static wristband

bad ideas:

force things into place, not using a anti-static area on carpeted areas... putting ur parts on the carpet.... those are bad.... really bad!!
