Thanks b1gabl (post 6). Does anyone use a Raid 1 configuration and is it worthwhile for home users?

Yeah it's only worth it if you want extra security.

Honestly I've never had a hard drive fail on me...ever. I've also ONLY ever used seagates.

Me too...I have two, 5 year old Seagates. Still works like a charm. I also have a 7 year old WD, that still works. Ironically, those are my backup drives...heh.

I had an old 250Gb Maxtor fail on me recently, I got it out of an old DVR from work. It was suspect when I got it, lasted about a year. I had it backed-up so no great lost

I had my first computer back in 1985 (I was 6), I got the Apple IIe two days after it came out. and I've been buying the latest and greatest ever since. I did not start opening them up and tweaking and building until 1991
