if you are going to sli, get the cheaper 7900gs and overclock them. no sli, get the 7950gt. of course, if you are going to buy two new 7900gs's, you might as well buy and 8800gts 320mb it will cost roughly the same as 2 7900gs cards. and perform a little better maybe, but i am not sure if the 320mb outdoes 2 7900gs or not.

I guess that would be the question then.. I was thinking this earlier, if I was orginally going to drop $300 on two cards would they perform better in sli mode than one card that could be purchased for the same cost?

Does anyone have this answer?

If you were going to, originally drop $300, than I'd suggest the 8800GTS 320mb. I think it would be on par or better, than SLI'd 7900GS, and it's DX10 ready. You can get the 8800GTS 320mb, for as low as $270.

Ok, here we go again... What is the best 8800GTS 320mb card that can be ran in sli mode for the money, which is no more than $300...

This is starting to hurt...

lol....Why don't you get a single 7950GT or X1950XT...I shouldn't of said that, but....overclock, and call it a day?

Yeah, this is getting out of hand... Ok one 7950gt to start with, if I think I need more than I get another and run in sli... Sound good?

Ok this thread has gone on long enough with the idea of a 7950GT in mind. First off I would like to note that the benchmarks you see are stock speeds and the 7900GS overclocks way past stock. around 600/800 stock volts and then up to around 710/900 with a volt mod.

The 7950GT is a fast card but take a look at those benchmarks again and you will see the X1900XTX. You see how much faster that is than the 7950GT? Well the X1950XT runs just a tad slower than that card and can be overclocked past X1950XTX speeds.

The rebate is good but I for one don't like rebates that much as it takes months to get the cash back. The X1950XT can be had for 180 bucks or so and even its 256mb model trashes the 7950GT.

The 7950GT is one of my least favorite cards around I'm going to have to say...

The 7900GS can be overclocked to around stock 7950GT performance and will destroy games like CS:S and WoW.

Agreed with Sora. I would of gone for the X1950XT, myself. If you were going to spend $300 originally, the X1950XT fits in the middle, and destroys everything, that was suggested before.

Not SLI...for ATI graphic cards, it's called Crossfire. Anyway....why are you so set on SLIing or Crossfiring?

The board I'm getting is sli ready and it just seems to me for a future upgrade it would be a huge performance increase in gaming for the money...
