What is the difference between and IDE hard drive and a SATA hard drive? My motherboard supports both, which would be a better choice?

SATA: uses a smaller cord, which increases the airflow, and secondly its bw is about 150MB/s

IDE: Larger cord reduces airflow, makes case congestedand the bw is 133MB/s

I am sure that there is more info on these 2, but those are the basics

SATA i think i upto 150mb per second write speed, which is 17MB/S faster then IDE!

Plus SATA is not much more expensive than PATA (IDE) anymore so you may as well go for it!

Finally SATA makes for a cleaner tidier Box which is always nice to have especially when trying to take heat away from an overclocked CPU ;-)!!

I agree, IDE is the way to go unless you are really picky about what the inside of the comp looks like or if you can get another 17mbps

something I thought of:
both drives are more or less the same, except for the transfer method
a standard PATA drive usually doesn't transfer more than about 25-30MB/s even though they have a bandwith of 100MB/s or 133MB/s
will a SATA drive transfer more than 30MB/s on average?
