Weird clock issue

On one of my laptops today ( Lenovo IBM t60 thinkpad laptop running XP pro) i noticed the time( the actual clock in bottom right corner) was 20 minutes fast. When i went to reset the time the second hand seemed to be moving faster then it should. To confirm this me and my office mate set each pc to the same time and on count reset the seconds exactly the same.

Then weirdly after 1 min the laptop was already 7 seconds faster.

i tried google but so far only found info on system overclocking.

Any ideas?

hmmm could be a bad motherboard battery.

how old is the laptop?

I kinda was going down that road myself. But, I just checked bios and the time in there is correct. Which to me directs me toward a windows issue. Now when i rebooted the time corrected itself.

The laptop is less then 1 year old. I called IBM tech support and they just said to reimage it. I will wait to i run out of options to do thast.

very odd indeed. run any virus / spyware scans yet?


if you cant solve it any other way, then sometimes a backup and reinstall is the only way

Yeah that's my next step. But were behind a very good firewall, but i you never know. i will post results later.

Ran a virus check, spy-bot, and adaware se and it came up clean.

Also here is highjack file. I ran it through an analyzer and also came up clean.

Also today the time is currently 15 min slower and slowing down.??????
