I need some help trying to see if this is even possible. I have a security system that has an internal IDE hard drive and a SCSI port. The internal hard drive is not big enough to record all the data we want, so we need to buy about a 320 gig hdd. The connection is a 50 pin SCSI2 female connection. Is there a converter that would plug into the female port on the outside of the case that would go into an external IDE hard drive, or can someone think of an easier setup?

Thanks for the feedback. HDD's are not my speacialty.

So which way would you recommend. Getting the SCSI to USB converter and then buying an external USB Hard drive?

is this a standalone security system ? or a computer setup with cameras etc. ?

cause if it is stand alone then it may not recognize a usb hdd so you might be stuck with the scsi to ide direction

Yes, it is a standalone system. All of the cameras plug into one unit, and that unit controls everything. To even see the menu for the unit, i have to hook up a projector to it. lol.
