The 9 in 1 Windows disk you have don't have the correct sata drivers for the hard drive to access it. When you first boot up to the cd, it prompts you to install third pary drivers, press F6, etc, this is where the drivers are needed, best used on a floppy on slip them into the 9 in 1 cd. You don't boot to the hard drive, you boot from the cd, then install on the hard drive

How do I find the manufacture of the hard drive? Is standard disk drives a brand of hard drive?

Will the computer still boot into windows? I read threw and didn't see you say it will not boot into windows. If so you should just use the HP recovery option, Its simple. Its in HP tools (or something like that) in all programs. HP recovery, Pick destructive/Advanced to format the HD and it will reboot and reinstall Everything for you. Alot of people make this mistake and/or Just don't know that there is a hidden recovery Partition with 90% of all OEM computers.
