well if u want fastest speed 680i is ur best bet b/c 16 X 16, but since ur on a budget, MSI p6n sli-fi works or asus p5n-e works (also p5n-sli is really cheap, nto sure about performance tho)

well im getting money at the end of the month and ill se what i can do, right now im getting one 8600gts (175 bucks) and how much are the 680i's? hopefully ill get around 350, so ill have 150 to 175 dollars for a mobo.

yea, i just saw it. and how is the oc'ing of the 680i's? isn't the memory controller really good too? i might get it, but if i dont have teh money ill drop to 650i.

you know what, i don't know if i should do this.

i have been thinking.

i haver a 25a 12v rail psu, its a crappy 550 (really 400) logysis psu, and it could run a 8600gts. but not a 8800gts 320, which is a lot better.

should i get a 8800gts instead of a new mobo and the 8600gts but a new psu? if so, whats the cheapest psu that will work with it, i just need a cheap one.

thats a whole new question... 680i's slogan is "Engineered for the Intel Overclocker", but i wouldn't say that i say that about the 650i SLI, cuz from what i've heard 680i's have an FSB hole issue?

I've heard about that too. But if you want to overclock, definitely get a 965P chipset motherboard. You'll reach higher FSB speeds. And in reviews of the 650i vs. 680i in SLI performance, the reviews have shown, that the 650i, in some cases performs better in SLI, than the 680i chipset. Why are you SLIing 8600GTSs? Just get an 8800GTS. If it were me, I would go for a Gigabyte 965P-DS3 (about $130), and an 8800GTS 320mb ($260). But it's your choice.

well that's good. i have a 965p ds3. its a rev 2, too bad not a 3.3 :(.

i thought the cheapest 8800 was 285 (the leadtek)

but really, whats so bad about the 8600gts? i mean, can i max oblvion at 1600x1200 and 2x aa 8af?

It's not bad, it's just that, if you were going to SLI 8600GTS, you might as well get an 8800GTS. Because I think it's on par with 8600GTSs in SLI. I could be wrong though.
