computer wont shut down

my family computer wont shut down, what happens is you click shutdown, logs off, shuts down then reboots. its very annoying. ive reset the bios but that has had no effect. any suggestions?

specs are-

amd athlon 3500+
1GB PC3200
Winfast Mobo

it almost sounds like a spyware problem to me. i would try spybot.

my advice, press n hold the shut down button for 4 sec n it will turn off. If not, YANK THE POWER CORD OUT OF THE PSU!!!! lol j/k.

hey, most psu's got a switch on the back, thats what i do when it dont shut off.

ive had that problem before, i ran spybot and ad-aware se, and it got rid of it.

also another way to shut down is to click start, click run, type cmd, then type "shutdown -s"

and "shutdown -a" will cancel it

hey, most psu's got a switch on the back, thats what i do when it dont shut off.

Doesn't that risk a failed HD?

what you need to do is right click my computer, properties. go to advanced tab, startup and recovery. uncheck automatically restart on system failure.

now when you try to shutdown you will probably get a blue screen , post the results of that blue screen here and we can help you from there.

see it was probably bluescreening cause of an error but it happens so fast that you dont see it, the system just reboots
