media will not play on laptop

i got a cd with some media on it, it works on my desk top, but not on my laptop, help?

i also just got the laptop,and i think the verson of xp is fake, will that do it? or would the cd speed?, i dunno, it just comes in all crappy

This is another question that could have many possible answers.

Why do you think your edition of XP is fake? Where did you buy your laptop? What type of media are you trying to play? What is the file extension on that media?

If the media comes out crappy that means the laptop isnt fast enough to play the said file types...espicailly older ones have a hard time playing divx movies and such.
