Hey doods. Alright, I took the liberty of browsing this inter-web to find the parts that b1gapl gave me. Below is a list of the parts and prices that I found on NewEgg, ZipZoomFly, and TigerDirect. The ones bolded are the best deal. There were some parts that had a lot of search results, and I'm needing help in choosing it.

Mouse:

Keyboard:

Operating System: Already have Windows XP

If anyone can help me narrow down the Hard Drive, Graphics Card and Memory I would gladly take their insight. Also, if anyone can recommend to me a good 19/20" monitor, DVD burner, modem, network card, multi-media reader along with a keyboard and mouse that would help me too.

I'm going to take a break from my research and I'll check back later. Thanks for all of you guys help so far. :)

most sites strugle when you just search you should go through the categories much quicker and shows you all the offerings available you can then cancel it down by price or brands
hdd: seagate barracuda 7200.10 the 320gb should suit you
gfx: 8800GTX the evga one is normally the cheapest and they are a solid brand name
RAM: g-skill 2x1gb (6400) any really but the black hz's are exceptionally good
monitor: viewsonic VX1945 I love this monitor looks incredible on or off bt you do pay a premium because of its flawless looks
optical drive: any will do really just pick a middle of the range one by a brand you have heard of
modem: why do you need one???
network card: why the wifi edition comes with two lan connections and wireless...

I wasn't sure if the motherboard included WiFi or was compatible with WiFi. Again, this is the first time I'm dwelling into computer guts in the longest of times.

As for the modem, it was advice given to me by my mother so that I may use the modem faxing or anything else that would use the modem. She works in the office and surprisingly knows what is inside a computer most likely as well as I do. It was one of those you may regret it Mom predictions. I'd rather not buy one if it is more than $20 dollars and may just not purchase one at all.

I narrowed down the Video Card, Hard Drive, and Memory from what was recommended. I also found a good mouse, a wired version of the wireless mouse my roommate has, and found out more about the monitor saltynay recommended, and found a few cases my roommate recommended.

I'll still be needing a few opinions on optical drives and keyboards. Thanks for the help in advance.

Alright, my roommate who swears by AMD has found a combo package on TigerDirect with the Asus M2N-E SLI NVIDIA Socket AM2 ATX Motherboard and AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ OEM Processor for $229.99. What are peoples thoughts on this?

I should let you know... all of these model and make numbers are driving me crazy, heh, heh. :)

lest face it now... most speakers in monitors are low quality and garbage, u might be better of getting discrete ones...

true.. but discrete is a better choice... i don't my parents hearing "things" i do on my pc, i prefer speakers with headphones to cover it up....
