I've been out of the loop since I built my last computer (Palomino 2000+), so I need some newbie help understanding the relationship between memory speed and HT speed.

I have a Turion X2 TL-50. The specs of this chip:

HT: 1600MHz
CPU: 1600MHz
Multiplier: 8x

However, CPU-Z reports a bus speed of 200MHz and a HT link of 400MHz (at full power).

I know I could jump to the crucial website and check which ram is compatible for my system, but I'm trying to understand the fundamentals between RAM (DDR2) and HyperTransport. With my Athlon XP, it is fairly simple. FSB is 133MHz, so I would get 266MHz (PC2100) ddr ram or higher (couldn't do much overclocking on a Pally though).

But ever since Athlon64 architecture emerged, I've been clueless as to the relationship. Can someone please fill me in. This is a X2 so it's running on a S1 socket (DDR2).

Thanks!

Already tried wikipedia. That doesn't really explain the relationship between speeds.
