need more ram

I want to upgrade my pc and get more ram. I already upgraded my gfx card to a 7600GT PCI E card.
The following are my pc specs.

Emachines T 6420
AMD Athlonâ„¢ 64 3400+ Processor
1GB DDR (2 × 512MB), 400MHz dual channel
Expandable to 4GB

I was wondering If i could get 2 X 1gb cards. So then i'll have 3 gigs of ram, or should i remove both of the 512's and just use the two new 1gb cards.

I'm looking for mid range price, decent brand...pretty much the best bang for the buk.

grab some of these
since your computer supports two ddr channels, you can leave the old ram in and use the new ones with it.

Just take out the 512s and use the 2x1gb sticks. This way, you can run them in dual channel. And 2gb is plenty enough for what, you are probably doing.

his computer has four slots, each pair of slots have their OWN dual channel....

Oh yea...I was just thinking that, he wouldn't need to have 3gb of ram in his system. 2x1gb is optimal for everything right now.

These seemed to have the best reviews and that was how much money I had...I also just bought a 7900GS...its on backorder so I should get it in a week or 2.

yeah good job..those are better than the g. skill actually...they have tighter timings which are beneficial to the AMD architecture

Thank you, but i dont know anything about timings. All I know so far is the Cas latency...the lower the better. I ordered those last night, and I selected the 3 day guarantee, so I'll probably recieve them on monday after everything gets processed. It would be nice though If I got it by this weekend.
