Microsoft Watch - Server - Microsoft Looks to 64-Bit Future

"Microsoft just announced that Windows Vista is the last desktop operating system on 32-bits and that after Windows Server 2008 they will develop only 64-bit operating systems. This is part of Microsoft's view of the future and it seems that both 64-bit operating systems and multi core desktop systems. In fact Microsoft representatives stated that future machines should have “two cores, eight cores, and ultimately many, many cores”. "

Is it about time, for this?

The 64-bit edition of Vista has been out. This is just saying that, after 2008, they will no longer make 32-bit operating systems.

omg.. .so does that mean Vista will be no more next year and Vienna is coming out next year?

well seeing as windows is going towards the more Ram = better performance route with vista taking up 40% of ram for preloaded items then it isn't surprising they will only do 64bit
