I just built a pretty sweet machine.
Intel P4 3.2 GHz 800 MHz FSB, 1GB Corsair 400 MHz DC, Asus P4P800E Deluxe MB, Asus GeForce FX 5950 Ultra, Creative Labs Audigy 2zs Platinum.

Anyway...I've been playing the games that came with the sound and video cards and the cut seens and little movies that play at the begining of each game look like crap. Maybe I don't have some feature enabled on the Video card. It's all new to me so I'm not sure how to tweak it.

The begining of Tomb Raider looks terrible, the cut scenes in Battle Enigine Aquila look terrible, and the demo for Collin McRey's Rally (not sure exactly what the title is?) look terrible. I unistalled the nVidia driver that I had origanally installed and downloaded the newest from nVidia's website and that didn't seem to make a difference. Normal in-game graphics look pretty good. It just seems to be the movie like graphics at the begining of games and during cut scenes. I watch DVD's just fine and mpegs. Any advice is so very welcome.

well for one, i believe the beginning movie on tomb raider is supposed to look the way it does, as for colin mcrae rally (thats my favorite!!!) (the 2004) you can adjust the movie quality in the graphics options of the game. If dvds are running ok then its probably pretty much your individual settings in the games themselves.

Most movies I have seen at beginning of games always look great using my 9800 Pro, games like Battlefield Vietnam, Jedi Knight II, Civilisation III. But I suppose that if they came with the game they could have coded the video at poor quality to save room on disc?

How many games are there on one CD?

you should have NO PROBLEM RUNNING ANY GAME ANY SETTING with that kick ass setup!! try some setttings in CMOS

Wah, your machine not bad.May be something goes wrong with your BIOS settings, maybe some important function didnt turn on, try to check n c.

i think my machine is a bit better, but back to your point you should be able to fix that with the game graphics settings.

To answer Kangaroo,
Tomb Raider The Angel of Darkness is on 2 CD's, Battle Engine Aquila (low budget game, i really don't expect a whole lot out of this one) is on 1 CD by itself, and the Rally game is on a demo CD with like 5 other games. This has happened with all of the games I have tried on my computer.

I would imagine that the movie at the begining of Tomb Raider should look awesome. Like I said in game graphics are killer but the movie thing is terrible.

To All,
Thanks for all the ideas. I will check them out this weekend.
