Sparkle PSUs....

How do you guys feel about Sparkle PSUs? I got a free one from a friend, and I wanted to replace the noisy PSU, in one of my older computers.

mixed bag is what I have heard some are powerhouses that have lasted 5 or more years some die within a week............

Just power hardware that isn't expensive to replace with it like case fans lol

My friend has had it running for about 5 years. Never had a problem.

He obviously got a good one then although 5 years is a long time it could be an issue now of the electronics actually wearing out I would clean it out check all components for any sign of damage or wear with a thorough 10minute look into every nook and cranny and then use it

I thought Sparkle PSUs were just FSP but rebranded, but I may be wrong.. =\

No they used to be so you weren't wrong. I forget who they have switched their OEM to now but as you stated they used to be OEM FSP which is why they were decent PSU's for the most part. I'm not to sure how they are now but Sparkle used to be pretty good units.

Well on the label, the model says FSP235-60GI.

It is listed in the

"High to Medium End Gaming or workstation PC's, (This includes High end video cards (Single) and moderate to high overclocking)"
