So I just got a new machine and need an producitivty sweet. I was running Office 2000 and I have misplaced the CD and Serial number which was on the CD. So my question is Office 2007 worth purchasing? I would probably getting the Home and Student version since I would only be using Word and Excel. I'm interested to hear opinions on the new interface that was introduced in this version of Office.

I don't like the interface, but you will get used to it over time. It takes a lot of screen space compared to older versions (although you can "minimize" the toolbar).

I installed it because of its .docx file support. It is working fine so far.

it's great
needs a learning curve...but adjustment should be easy
makes a lot of things easier...and better looking

Thanks for the help. I had actually went into the store and tried it out on one of the PCs. The interface was a major change, but everything was still there and easily accessible . So I went ahead and bought it

Yes I am considering using openoffice too.
I do not want to throw my money away to Microsoft lol

things in life are just alternatives...
buying an MS product is by no means throwing away your money...
some things are good, some not...
if something fits you perfectly, there is no reason not to buy it, regardless of who makes it...

I use Office 2003, Office 2007....and I use many freeware and open source apps...
try scribus for good high end pub/pre press stuff...
