do you have to remove the motherboard on most after market heatsink/fans for CPU's? or does it pop off without that? That is one of the few things in my computer i'm not familiar with haha..

u got 5 possible situations here:

1. You got a Prescott (those things could be used as a heater lol)
2. You overclocked it a bit too much and thats ur heat issue
3. You have an EE P4 those are hot too!
4. Stock HSF maybe not functioning or its not installed properly
5. a combination of some or all of em'

the p4 northwoods have some of the best heat dissipitation, you could try that but if your running a p4ee you would sacrifice a lot of performance just get a better cpu cooler

I have the p4 3.4ghz... I think it is the prescott (its so darn hot!).... I'm going to likely order a new heat sink fan for the CPU... I've covered all the other possible heat sources.

2 fans out
1 fan in
1 fan on cpu heatsink
1 fan accelero x2 fan on video card
1 fan on hard drive
1 power supply fan

Why is the CPU still idiling at 50C and 68-71C during gaming???? I have a new ULTRA FIRE 775 Heatsink fan, 2 exhaust fans (top = 60cfm, back = 34 cfm) and 1 intake fan (side = 34cfm)..... No front areas for fans... I figured this would be PLENTY to keep it cool.... System temp is idling at 53C as well.... I don't have performance problems, expect in gaming (when temp hits about 67C or more)....
