Hi,

A while back my cd/dvd drive stopped appearing in the my computer window and stopped reading disks. I looked in the device manager to see if I could do anything to it there. Turns out the drive doesn't show up in there at all. I figured the drive is broken, so I swapped it with another one, still, in the my computer window, the drive does not show up. I checked and made sure all the connections in the computer are tight, they are.

At this point I am absolutely clueless on how to get my drive to show up and read disks again. So far I think there is some sort of corruption in the windows registry but I would'nt at all know where.

I've had this problem for a while now, any help with it is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Can you open the drive? if you cant it might be a faulty power supply
Also try running 'add new hardware' from control panel. Check if its recognised in disk management as well, i had a computer which didnt recognize the drive till i checked in disk management. Control panel/administrative tools/computer management/disk management
check if the drive is there, and if it has the 'healthy' or 'no media' label.
