Go for the 965P chipset, like the Gigabyte 965P-DS3, instead of 680i. It is more suitable for the lower C2Ds. And get G. Skill HZs...you'll get great overclocks with that.

i love it how people just assume they will be oc'ing the **** out of there new pc's lol sorry just find it amusing

lol....it's just that the C2Ds basically were made to overclock. And why not OC?

the soundcard is not necessary unless you like premium audio I am happy with my onboard sound

The graphics card you can save money by buying the 320mb 8800GTs your screen is too small to efficiently use the extra onboard ram it isn't worth it.

The cpu can be very slightly upgraded to a e6320 for $20 or with the money saved on soundcard and graphics card you can buy a nice heatsink and a e6420 possibly the e6600 (the best C2D chip the e6700 is a waste of money)

I hate my onboard audio... which is why I don't use it. But I agree with saltynay, if your not an audiophile you can get rid of the sound card and put the money towards a different Core2Duo or a nice CPU cooler, and unless your planning on upgrading your monitor or using dual monitors or something, you can save by going with the 320mb..

Yeah, for a 19" monitor... save the cash on the 640MB version and pick up one of these.
