It has been my experience that most motherboards will either automatically detect your cards voltage pr prevent you from using a card of a non exceptable voltage... I recently installed an ASUS mobo that required a low-voltage card... (but the onboard AGP was awesome for the 3 days I put up w/ it.. lol)
Ive only used Asus boards ive only been building for 2 years and the boards ive used P4G8X deluxe, P4T533C Deluxe both had adjustable AGP voltage range 1.5,1.6,and i think 1.7 .There were 3 adjustments settings.
