I have an older computer with W98. It has been sitting for about 3 months without being turned on. I turned it on today and the moniter will not come on. The power light is on. The computer gave one beep and with a short pause, gave 2 more beeps. Did not get a chance to try another moniter on it. I have another smaller one. Also found a small capacitor laying on the bottom of the computer case. Do you think maybe the video card has given up?

might want to read your motherboards' manual. It will let you know exactly what that series of beeps mean.

I'll give it a try if I can find it. I have had this thing for quite awhile. I know I have it somewhere.
