8600 gt vs. 8800gts

I know that there have been little studys of this yet, but I want to buy a new video card and wondring which one is better. If the 8800 gts is only a little better is it worth buying for a extra $100.

It is MILES better and no doubt worth the $100. The 8600GT/GTS are pretty weak price/performance wise (at least right now having to pay near MSRP) compared to the 8800GTS.

Get 8800GTS, it can completely destroy any card on the market (except 8800GTX)

What high resolution do you speak of 1600 x 1200 and up??

Mainly above 1600x1200 but yes 1600x1200 it does help a little bit. Anything lower and it makes no difference right now.

Thats good to know since I'm planning in buying a new video card soon and I was struggling between the GTS 320mb SC and 640mb SC but now I'm almost positive that I'm getting the 640 SC from eVGA but I might just wait a little more until AMD launches their cards so price should drop I think.

thanks for the rapid replys, I only want the 8800gts, not the gtx, because I am only runing at 1248 by 1024 with two monitors. Has there been any hardward problems that anybody knows of with running 2 monitors on the 8800 gts?
