mouse keeps freezing and jumping?

i had a logitech optical mouse, been working fine for a year, started jolting around the screen and freezing whenever i moved it.. now i have changed to a roller-ball mouse, and the same thing is happening, is it a virus or something? because once it freezes, it stays froze, cant do anything but reboot..
if it's a virus, is there any software to get rid of it?

did you try to turn the hardware acceleration down in the control panel?

right click where there are no icons on the desktop, then click properties, then settings at the top,then hit advanced, then troubleshooting, then it should be there. This might not work but is worth a try. My friend has also experienced many bad things with the logitech optical junk.
