an irritating problem

yay i got my cpu fixed n everythin was workin fine until i startup n get some message saying insert proper boot device or somethin like that ...is it cuz of the hard disk wires? it works sometimes but now n again the error comes...also when it does start my freakin clock keeps on changin ...everytime..i bought a new battery but the **** still happens...any help wud be appreciated.

Have you gone into the BIOS and made sure your hard drive with the OS is on the boot device order? When you replace the battery all the BIOS settings are put back to the default settings. Once you have made the settings changes, and if they all change back, then you have a bigger problem. Maybe something with the bios rom chip or the cmos battery housing.

if you make changes and the settings all return to default, your CMOS jumper could just be in the "clear" position.
