optical drive audio cables?

i'm wondering if the audio cables for optical cdrw/dvdrw drives are necessary, because i have two cdrw burners in my computer right now using both my audio channels, and i'm looking into buying a new dvdrw drive, if i don't plug in a audio cable for that drive what will happen? and is there a way that my mobo can support another audio channel if i have to?

i have a p4p800s motherboard by the way thanks for the help!

i am not sure but i think that audio cable only applies if you plug headphones into the drive on the front

actually, those are only needed if u don't have windows 2000 or XP. In the newer OS, it uses the IDE cable to transfer audio from your cd to your motherboard.
