laptop will not turn on

my friend gave me a compaq armada 110 laptop they had laying around today. Their company no longer needed it and he said it didn't work. so anyways i try to see what up thinking it was a hard drive problem, but this laptop wont turn on period. i hook up the ac adapter and nothing happens. the only thing i can tell you is that when i plug the adapter in a high pitched noise comes from the power plug on the laptop. any ideas?

First, unplug it. Theres is probaly something fried for it to make a high-pitch noise.

If you take the battery out and plug the power cable into the laptop, does it do anything?

It runs off A/C

Update:

I tested the sucker with a voltmeter, I think i found the problem it seems the head to the power plug in the laptop is loose, probably due to someone jerking the adapter out, or tripping over it. If in right i may be able to 1: replace it or 2: reconnect the solder points to the motherboard. Luckily Im good at soldering.
