i cant seem to get remote desktop to work in windows vista home premium i want to connect to my laptop from my desktop, which also runs home premium, but its not working. firewall settings are all set properly but still nothing.

firstly remote desktop connection isn't enough, u need a program like Cisco Systems VPN Client to connect to the server of the laptop then the IP Address/ System Name to connect thru remote desktop connection

For Example: I'm in school and wanna use my home PC to play games, I use the Cisco VPN Client to connect to my Router, then type in my IP Address for my PC and I have unblocked internet!! yay! unblocked internet!

There's probably just an authentication problem
*what ID are you connecting with?
*have you checked the services?
*are the computers on the same exact workgroup?

im using the lan ip to connect to the computer on the network. they are all on the same workgroup and LAN. as for services the terminal service is enabled but i dont know what else needs to be.
