before formatting i was windows xp 64 bit but after formatting i used tune up utilities to check if everything was going well and i found out my windows version has somehow downgraded to 32bit. this could explain why my screen becomes all jilted when scrolling. any1 got any ideas?

your screen jilts when you scroll because the vid drivers are not up to date or its running on VGA default

There are two possible explanations
1. You've got more than one windows XP cd and installed using the wrong one.
2. You weren't running XP 64 to begin with

XP 64 won't (and can't) just revert back to 32 bit windows XP.

I don't think that's what he was talking about.

Ya, sounds to me like the vid card drivers are wrong.. did you download and install drivers for the 64bit edition instead of the 32bit?
