Considering Vista 32bit / 64 bit?

Hello

I am considering buying windows vista.
32bit or 64bit?
how do i know whats right for me?

I do run some old softwere like "startrek armada" but im also into the soon to be released "LOTRO" .
i have heard that LOTRO has had some trouble with vista but i doubt that will last.
I also plan on useing the computer as a TV and DVD entertainment center.

Hello,

Personally I would get 64-bit Vista, mainly because it has specific security features (such as Kernel Patch Protection aka PatchGuard) which, when combined with a latest AMD or Intel 64 bit processor, makes it much more secure than the 32-bit Vista.

oh, so i select 32bit/64bit depending on whether my processor has 64bit able? hehe my computer knowledge is just growing.

One cause for the slight lag in device driver availability is the fact that only digitally signed drivers can be installed for devices, in Windows Vista x64. But digitally signed drivers mean there's less likely to be stability issues.

If you go with Vista 64 bit, Make shure all your hardware in your pc, IE; Video Card, Sound Card, and other things you have on your computer has 64 bit drivers out. Or you'll be in for some problems.

Right now, 64 bit is really lagging behind. Most still only have beta vista 64 bit drivers out.

I went with 64 bit, Cause I knew it would be best for later down the road. Just this road is a old gravel one and may take awhile before I reach the interstate!
