Dsl touble

Hi

I have a new westell modem and it was working fine..now i can only get online using the usb connection instead of the ethernet connection..

i have win xp

im trying to figure if it's my modem or ethernet card...

if i connect ethernet cable i get open connection symbol on taskbar.....

help

you might want to resinstall your ethernet card drivers, though first uninstall the drivers then reinstall them

Yah reinstall the drivers for your ethernet adapter. That was my problem building a computer yesterday. I forgot i hadnt installed the mobo cd drivers yet....

ttomm46, is it just a new modem or did you switch service providers as well?

i switched servive providers but it was working fine..still works if i use the usb port

what you try to do is turn of the computer, plug in the ethernet cable, unplug the power to your modem for at least ten seconds, plug it back in, reboot the computer and hopefully it will work. what could be happening is your modem needs to reobtain the IP address for your computer. This happened to me also.
