overclocking stability problems...

I have noticed a weird pattern while overclocking. It seems that, when I go up 100mhz, it's unstable....but when I go up 200mhz, it's really stable. Here is the pattern:

FSB - 287.5 (2.3GHz)....Orthos ran for 8 hrs.
FSB - 300 (2.4GHz)....Random freezes
FSB - 312 (2.5GHz)....Orthos ran for 11hrs.
FSB - 325 (2.6GHz)....Random freezes
FSB - 337.5 (2.7GHz)....Orthos ran for 9hrs.
FSB - 350 (2.8GHz)....Random freeze
FSB - 362.5 (2.9GHz)....Orthos ran for 12hrs.

What happened here? Currently I'm at 2.9GHz, with the VCore at 1.35v, and the northbridge at 1.39v. So if the FSB at 362.5 ran on Orthos for 12hrs, should I just go to 387.5, making it 3.1GHz?

the 680i boards have nasty FSB holes, where it will be really unstable at a certain fsb, up it by 1, and it will be fine. maybe the 650i boards have the same thing.

i suspect josh may be on to something here. i guess there wouldn't be much harm in giving it a shot at 3.1GHz. i would investigate what josh mentioned through some smaller FSB increases and tests.
