Actually i can play music, play supreme commander on dual monitors, and dl torrents at the same time. The quad core is just overkill at the moment. I suggest you go with the e6600 and get an 8800gtx along with it. The 7950gx2 is a good card but the 8800gtx blows it away (the 8800gts matches it). I think you would be more happy with the 8800gtx then the quad core. And you can upgrade to a quad core latter when they're not as expensive (the q6600 is supposed to drop to $500ish this summer).

What ive learned from here is:
gaming = better gpu, pretty good cpu
rendering/encoding = better cpu, decent gpu

But if your not going to constantly be converting videos, then the e6600 is good enough. Get a decent cpu cooler like the zalman 9500 or scythe ninja (with a decent fan), too and overclock it, and you will be surprised how powerful the e6600 is. I love myn .
