Ok, I have a quick question. I have a 160GB sata hard drive with 3 partitions. partition C: has windows xp and D: and E: are just data. What I want to do is just format C: and do a clean install of windows again on the same partition. My question is, will I still need a floppy with the sata drivers if i were to do that? and if i did, would my data on partitions D: and E: be lost?

It is possible to format a single partition while leaving the others Alone.
If you needed the SATA driver the first time then you probably need it this time.
Keep it handy just in case.

As a safty precaution back up your important data onto another media. Its been known to happen: to accidently format drives and or partitions that you wanted to keep.
