I just reformatted a mate's pc, With XP... An I get these little pop-ups every few moment's.

disable your windows messenger in services.msc

next time reinstall with a sp2 disc

It's best to upgrade to SP2.

I would upgrade to sp 2 just because it is better than sp 1, but also disable messenger, hackers in other countries use the messenger service to send you pop ups that is why sp 2 nativly has it disabled, but if you need to know how to get there right click on my computer then click manage. The bottom part of the left pane should have a services click on it then find messenger in the right pane
