I am going to upgrade my Athlon 64 3200+ Venice to an X2 3800+ Manchester. Since the 3800+ is OEM only I need to purchase a decent fan. I have always used stock fans so I am totally out of my element here.

Suggestions? Thanks.

How far do you want to overclock it.

Some very good heatsinks and fans are the Zalman 9700 and 9500 models. They will allow moderate overclocking..

But really if you don't care about overclocking to much, just find one thats compatible with the socket and is pure copper.

If you want to do heavy overclocking.
Tuniq Tower
Scythe Ninja
XP-120
XP-90

As for the Fan, Tornado or deltas..

How much do you want to spend on the cooler?

I really don't know. I'd run the cpu at stock and if I decide to overclock it will be moderate. What I'm looking for is a good solid fan that is dependable. Anything around $35 give or take $5?
