Notebook not starting up. . .

I just built a notebook and when I hit the power button it tries to startup then it just shuts off.I'm not sure if the barebone mobo is DOA or the hard drive is bad.The ac adapter is plugged in and I checked 3 times to make sure memory,processor,and hard are plugged in correctly.What could be the problem?

MSI 1034 barebone notebook
Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 Merom 1.66 Ghz
2x512 SODIMM DDR PC5300
Fujitsu 100GB SATA 5400RPM HD

Ok your hard drive wouldn't be causing it to turn off, what I suggest is take it apart completely and rebuild it, then if it doesn't work send it back. Make sure to check the compatibility of the barebone with the rest of your system.
