Right click "my computer" > Manage > disc managment
In the bottom, you should see something along the lines of "disk 1" It will show as unformatted. Right click it and pick format. Follow the on screen instructions. Once it's done formatting, windows will recognise it. You can also change drive letters there as well I believe.
